The New Zealand Press Association was set up in 1879 and is New Zealand's national news agency. It is owned by the country's daily newspaper publishers and supplies the newspaper, broadcast and online media with a 24-hour national and international news service and breaking news images.
The NZPA newsroom sends out about 1000 different pieces of information every 24 hours, compiled from the news resources of its own staff, overseas wire services and other sources.
NZPA has more than 40 journalists based in Sydney, Auckland, in Parliament and at the head office at 93 Boulcott Street, Wellington, and a network of freelancers that covers the whole country and New Zealand interests around the world.
