A tourist photographs an oceanic whitetip shark. Oceanic whitetips are caught in large numbers by longline fishing vessels in Fiji. A recent study by Australian Institute of Marine Science found that sharks are worth much more alive than dead. Shark diving contributes F$74.9 million (US$43 million) to the Fijian economy each year.

Come April 1, Japanese customers of JTB Hawaii can delight in viewing Waikiki sights from an open-topped, double-decker bus. In an exclusive agreement, Polynesian Adventure Tours/Gray Line Hawaii will lease the bus to JTB Hawaii, the leading Japanese wholesaler. Offering prime viewing seats on the upper deck, the JTB double-decker will operate a sightseeing loop, starting from DFS Galleria Waikiki to Diamond Head and back, every 30 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. The bus will carry a Japanese-speaking ambassador to assist customers with boarding, answer questions and ensure safety.
