To celebrate the 20th anniversary of B+H Architects' presence in the Chinese market, the Canadian architectural design firm documents their legacy in China in a book aptly titled 20/20 Designing in China for Twenty Years. In Western culture, 20/20 is an auspicious notion, often used to describe perfect vision. The idea of clear vision from afar and the attention to myriad details up close form the core pillars of B+H's 20-year trajectory in China. One of the first international architecture firms to establish a presence in China, B+H witnessed and contributed to many of China's development and transformation milestones. To date, B+H has had over 21 million square metres of its design work constructed in most major cities around China, including Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Dalian, Qingdao, and Xiamen. Many of these projects have become landmark buildings in these cities. 20/20 is a synopsis of B+H's multi-disciplinary and pioneering involvement in China's rapid urbanization and a reflection of the Canadian architectural design firm's aspirations and commitment to add a brighter shine to China's architectural history. "This book conveys our gratitude for a remarkable working immersion in China. We feel profoundly privileged to have played a role in the architectural and urban expressions of China's unprecedented transformation. As China's urban centres have evolved, so too have we grown as a true international firm. China has offered us a transformative experience and we look forward to many more decades contributing to the development of this remarkable nation," said Bill Nankivell, CEO of B+H Architects. "Our past success and future endeavors in the Far East are largely dependent on the collective efforts of all our employees and the collaborative relationship between our firm and our clients. I would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to all the individuals who contributed to B+H's past 20 years and we are excited at the opportunities ahead," stated Karen Cvornyek, President, Asia, B+H Architects. B+H officially launched its 20th Anniversary celebrations with special events in Beijing and Shanghai on June 12th and 13th with guests of honour David Mulroney, Ambassador of Canada to the People's Republic of China, and Eric Pelletier, Acting Consul General of Canada in Shanghai.
