Runge Limited Helping to Develop Canadian Miners
CALGARY, Alberta, Canada, Aug 17, 2012 /Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --

Runge Limited, a global mining technology, consulting, advisory and
professional development giant, is working with University of Alberta to
develop the miners of tomorrow.

With Runge Limited providing their leading TALPAC and DRAGSIM software, Dr.
Tim Joseph directs up to 200 students through the world-class program each year.

"We aim to prepare our students for the real world of mining," said Dr.
Joseph, "And because we have real-world tools, we can approach the final year
with a business-based approach."

Such an approach has proven results. The University of Alberta's program
has quadrupled in size over the past five years to become the largest general
mining course in the world. It hits 100% job-placement regularly.

"Experienced showed that we needed to change the way we taught mining
engineering in the final year," said Dr. Joseph. "A reliance on text-book
learning meant we were losing student attention," he said.

Runge Limited's software gives universities and teachers the power to gain
and maintain that interest.

"Runge Limited is seen by many as the leaders in truck and loader planning,
dragline planning, mine scheduling and mine costing," said Fraser Rowe, General
Manager of Canadian Operations.

"And we're known to supply the software that supports these processes," he
said.

"Like their professors, we want to ensure the students are armed and ready
to tackle their real world jobs," said Mr. Rowe. "But more than that, we want
to improve the value of mining's global knowledge community."

Runge Limited works closely with the university to provide students with
access to real world experience.

Dr. Joseph himself worked for over 25 years as a mining consultant before
moving to academia later in life. He understands the need for real world
knowledge.

"You can't teach final year mining engineering just from a text book," said
Dr. Joseph.

    "So we set up an environment that mimics that of actual mining companies;
we get the students to work on projects they might work on when they graduate,
with many of the associated pressures," he said.

"Fraser and his team at Runge Limited Canada have been absolutely
essential," said Dr. Joseph. "They provide a great balance of real world
information," he said.
